Abstract
We separate the
geometric structure of a confined circulating quantum from the problem of
dynamical force balance. We work under an explicit premise set \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\): at the scale relevant to a free electron’s internal structure the confining geometry is
modelled as the round three-sphere \(S^3(a)\), and a free quantum is
packaged as circulating along a closed Riemannian geodesic of that geometry (a Hopf fibre), with topological class in the Hopf group \(\pi_3(S^2)\cong\mathbb{Z}\).
Under those premises, four classical mathematical results control the structure: (i) every geodesic of round \(S^3(a)\) is a closed great circle of period \(2\pi a\); (ii) the fibres of the Hopf fibration are precisely those great circles, corresponding in the programme’s torus-knot language to the single-wind seat \(T(1,1)\); (iii) the Hopf invariant \(H(f)\in\mathbb{Z}\) is a homotopy invariant, so class \(H=1\) cannot be smoothly deformed to the trivial class; (iv) the Clifford torus is a distinguished minimal (zero mean curvature) flat torus in \(S^3\) with Willmore energy \(W=2\pi^2\), supplying a canonical symmetric seat locus.
None of these theorems derives ambient \(S^3\) from flat-space electrodynamics alone (Maxwell
or Weber), fixes the absolute scale of \(m_e\) from pure geometry alone, or identifies Hopf class with laboratory charge without packaging. Under packaging
P4 (M-PHOT), rest mass is identified with the
photon confinement energy of the fundamental mode on the closed seat: \(E_1=\hbar c/a\), and self-consistency \(E_1=m_ec^2\) elevates \(a=\bar\lambda_C\) from a bare label to an
[E process] condition — without claiming a first-principles derivation of the absolute value of \(m_e\) (Gap 2 refined, still open). CPT’s preferred dynamics book is
causal Weber-class packaging (Gap 3) — Maxwell is treated as incomplete for confined-photon ontology and as a comparison/lab-bound language, not as the theory from which Gap 1 “ought” to be derived. Preferring Weber still does
not mint ambient \(S^3\): that remains \(\mathcal{R}_\star\)/P1. Continuum “hold” / single-loop energy analyses are repositioned as
checks and two-seat dynamics, not as the primary proof that a loop closes. Soft-mode residuals therefore do not by themselves refute
geodesic closure under \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\).
This note is a
compact structural core for a research programme. It is not a claim that CPT is a validated replacement for the Standard Model.
0. Motivation: invert the hold question
A natural dynamical question for a confined-photon ontology is:
given a force law (e.g. Weber electrodynamics on a dual-fibre or thin-tube seat), show that the \(T(1,1)\) configuration is a stationary point of an energy functional with \(\delta^2 U\ge 0\). That programme — continuum stationarity and stability (FP8/FP9 in the CPT stack) — is genuinely hard. It is scheme-sensitive, admits soft modes under partial formulations, and does not yet possess a completed \(W_\infty\)-type theorem.
The present note
inverts the logic. Before asking whether forces balance, ask:
if the relevant geometry is round \(S^3(a)\), what does geometry already force? On that geometry, path closure is not a delicate equilibrium; it is an elementary property of the round metric. Topological charge stability is not a Hessian positivity statement; it is a homotopy invariant. The symmetric torus locus is not a free dial; it is distinguished by classical surface geometry in \(S^3\).

This inversion is
methodological. It does not assert that Weber electrodynamics is false, nor that continuum energy analysis is useless. It asserts that
loop closure and Hopf-class stability should not be held hostage to an unfinished force-balance theorem.
1. Premises \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\)
Everything in §§2–5 is conditional on the following premises. They are
stated, not derived in this note. Inventory of programme arguments:
a_geom_gap1_s3_premise_inventory_results.md.
Premise P1 — Ambient geometry (conditional_model · Gap-1 freeze v1)
At the scale relevant to a free electron’s internal structure, the confining geometry is modelled as the
round three-sphere \(S^3(a)\) of radius \(a>0\), with the standard Riemannian metric of constant sectional curvature \(1/a^2\).
Category. Gap 1 is
not an electrodynamics question. Maxwell and Weber describe interactions
within a 3-geometry; they do not select it. Preferring causal Weber-class dynamics (Gap 3) does not by itself prove ambient \(S^3\).
Motivation (contained photon → uniqueness). Package a free photon as motion at speed \(c\) along ambient geodesics. Free containment without an external potential requires those geodesics to
close.
Isotropic photon containment (IPC): every geodesic closed with common length \(2\pi a\), complete simply connected 3-geometry, and
no preferred direction (constant curvature / metric isotropy). Then \((M,g)\) is
uniquely the round sphere \(S^3(a)\) [E under IPC]: \(\mathbb{R}^3\), \(H^3\), \(T^3\), products, and nontrivial spherical space forms are ruled out; topology is \(S^3\) and the metric is round. See
a_geom_gap1_isotropic_photon_containment_uniqueness.md.
Still conditional_model: adopting IPC (geodesic free containment + isotropy) is a modelling choice — not derived from Maxwell or Weber (wrong category: ED does not select geometry).
Given IPC, uniqueness is theorem.
Why IPC-5 (roundness / no preferred direction)? A free particle at rest is isotropic (no preferred spatial axis; spin monodromy lives on the seat, not as ambient metric anisotropy). We package that as geometric isotropy of the confining core —
IPC-5. Contained free photon supplies IPC-0–3; simply connected free seat supplies IPC-4. Bridge:
a_geom_rest_isotropy_to_ipc5_bridge.md [M].
Spin and statistics of the free electron (cover, \(j=\tfrac12\), Fermi–Dirac) are developed in
§1b — they use P1 as ambient, not as a force-law derivation.
Alternative branch: force-balanced
non-geodesic orbits in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) (hold) — different confinement category, not a competitor
inside IPC.
Local, not cosmic. P1 is a model of the
electron-scale confining core, not a claim that the universe is a particle-scale \(S^3\). How that core sits in a bulk 3-slice with multi-particle exterior electrodynamics is packaged in
Appendix D (O2 interface).
Not claimed. IPC from field equations alone; uniqueness with no isotropy/rigidity hypothesis (round metric); absolute \(m_e\) from geometry alone (mass
identification is P4/M-PHOT, not P1); global cosmology \(=\) single electron host.
Premise P2 — Closed geodesic / Hopf-fibre packaging (conditional_model)
A free photon (or free confined-photon quantum in the CPT sense) is packaged as circulating
at speed \(c\) along a
closed Riemannian geodesic of that geometry — equivalently, along a
Hopf fibre.
Language care (honesty). Round \(S^3(a)\) is Riemannian: its geodesics are not Lorentzian null geodesics of a spacetime metric on \(S^3\). We do
not claim that \(S^3\) carries a Lorentzian structure in which the orbit is lightlike. “Photon-like” means: energy/momentum packaging along a closed great circle at speed \(c\), in the sense of the confined-photon programme (Williamson & van der Mark 1997 lineage), not “null geodesic of Lorentzian \(S^3\).”
Without P2, Theorems 1–2 are pure geometry with no particle interpretation.
Premise P3 — Topological charge class (conditional_model + mathematics)
The topological charge class of the configuration is identified with a
Hopf class \(H\in\mathbb{Z}\) (or an equivalent fibre-linking integer) for a smooth map \(f\colon S^3\to S^2\) (or an equivalent Hopf-type structure).
Once maps of Hopf type are present, the
mathematical properties of \(H\) are standard (Theorem 3). The
physical identification of \(H\) with laboratory electric charge remains packaging (conditional_model).
Premise P4 — Radius and mass (M-PHOT · photon confinement · absolute scale open)
Mass origin (banked packaging). The electron rest mass is identified with the energy of the confined photon in its fundamental circulation mode on the closed seat — not with exterior Coulomb self-energy, and not with Willmore energy \(W=2\pi^2\).
Product spacetime packaging (language care). Round \(S^3(a)\) is Riemannian (P2). The confined-photon energy is read on the rest-frame product
\[
\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{int}}=\mathbb{R}_t\times S^3(a)\,,
\qquad
ds^2=-c^2\,dt^2+a^2\,d\Omega_3^2\,,
\]
so that a path tracing a great circle at angular speed \(\dot\phi=c/a\) is a
null geodesic of \(\mathcal{M}_{\mathrm{int}}\) (not a “null geodesic of Riemannian \(S^3\) alone”). Equivalently, in pure P2 language: circulation
at speed \(c\) on a great circle of length \(\mathcal{L}=2\pi a\).
Quantisation. Periodic boundary conditions on that loop give spatial modes \(p_n=n\hbar/a\) (\(n=1,2,\ldots\)). With the massless dispersion \(E=pc\),
\[
E_n=\frac{n\hbar c}{a}\,.
\]
The fundamental mode is
\[
\boxed{E_1=\frac{\hbar c}{a}}\qquad\text{\textbf{
[E]} under P2 + product packaging.}
\]
Self-consistency (not an absolute derivation). Setting the confinement energy equal to the rest energy,
\[
E_1=m_ec^2
\;\Longrightarrow\;
\boxed{a=\frac{\hbar}{m_ec}=\bar\lambda_C}
\qquad\text{\textbf{[E process]}.}
\]
Thus \(a=\bar\lambda_C\) is no longer a free Fork-A
label: it is the unique radius at which photon confinement energy matches \(m_ec^2\). Choosing any other \(a\) breaks that equality.

| Willmore \(W\) or pure Weber self-energy \(U\sim 1/a\) fixes \(m_e\) |
FORBIDDEN [F] |
| “Gap 2 closed / mass derived” |
FORBIDDEN [F] |
Geometric factor honesty. The geodesic / Maxwell-vector fundamental mode on \(S^3\times\mathbb{R}\) gives \(E_1=\hbar c/a\) (no extra prefactor). A scalar Laplacian \(l=1\) eigenvalue brings \(\sqrt{3}\); that is a different quantisation scheme. A-geom uses the geodesic / Maxwell-vector book —
[M] choice, noted
[E honesty].
Source: a_geom_gap2_photon_mass_results.md (M-PHOT-1…6 banked).
Premise P5 — Multi-particle asymptotics (Gap 3 · open)
Long-range multi-particle physics is required to recover the Coulomb law. A near-field effective interaction may be of Weber class (velocity- and acceleration-dependent corrections under
causal / retarded packaging — not acausal signalling).
P5 is not used in Theorems 1–4; it frames later work. The geometric
domain for two (or \(N\)) seats in a shared bulk slice is the multi-instance atlas of
Appendix D; the force
books remain Gap 3.
Key sentence. Theorems 1–4 are mathematics under P1–P3 (with P2 supplying the photon reading).
P4 packages mass as photon confinement energy (M-PHOT self-consistency \(a=\bar\lambda_C\)) but does
not derive absolute \(m_e\) and is not used in the pure-geometry proofs. P5 remains open for multi-particle law. §§1b–1c (spin package; pair/hold hygiene; H-D hold packaging in §1c.3b) are
parallel packaging on the same core — not used in Theorems 1–4.

1b.1 Cover and half-integer type
Round \(S^3\) is Lie-isomorphic to \(\mathrm{SU}(2)=\mathrm{Spin}(3)\), the simply-connected double cover of \(\mathrm{SO}(3)\). Half-integer spin representations exist because one works on that cover, not on \(\mathrm{SO}(3)\) alone. The IPC core is therefore not a spin-neutral cage; Pathway A needs no second ambient.
Single-body spinor monodromy \(U(2\pi)=-I\) is realised on the confined-photon seat with director packaging (MSCT). That fixes spinor type, not yet \(j=\tfrac12\) vs \(\tfrac32\).

.
1b.2 Magnitude \(j=\tfrac12\)
For the free electron ground seat — single primitive \(T(1,1)\) / Hopf fibre, spinor data in the fundamental irrep \(\mathbb{C}^2\) of \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\) — one has uniquely
\[
j=\tfrac12
\]
under package \(\mathcal{P}_{j}\). The cover alone supplies half-integer type; fundamental + single-wind packaging selects the magnitude. Higher half-integers need higher irreps or different seats. Hadron spin towers are a separate residual (not this package).

.
1b.3 Fermi–Dirac pair exchange
Two identical \(T(1,1)\) seats on multi-instance atlas \(\mathcal{A}_2\) (Appendix D) are exchanged by a continuous half-turn of centres (XC_PLANE). Transport package \(\mathcal{T}_{\mathrm{XC}}\):
| Piece | Content | Tag |
|-------|---------|-----|
| RIGID | Pair as planar rigid dumbbell; body frames lock to rotating separation | [M] |
| Body rotation | Each seat undergoes \(R_{\hat k}(\pi)\) | [E under RIGID] |

| DIR-LOCK | MSCT director fixed in body triad (not Frenet of the centre path) | [M] |
| Assembly | Ordered two-seat state from product of lifts + label swap | [M] |
Under \(\mathcal{T}_{\mathrm{XC}}\) and assembly, exchange is Spin-monodromy equivalent to a \(2\pi\) rotation. With \(U(2\pi)=-I\),
\[
\psi(1,2)=-\psi(2,1).
\]
Pure Levi-Civita transport on one \(S^3\) core is not the exchange law. Parallel literature join: Finkelstein–Rubinstein / Hopfion sector under dictionary D★.

1b.4 What §1b does not claim
- Absolute mass or \(g{-}2\) beyond tree-level inheritance notes elsewhere.
- Hadron \(j\) from \((p,q)\) alone; \(N>2\) braid theorem; second-quantised fermion fields.
- Spin/FD without the named packaging axioms above.

1c.1 Pair as two opposite \(S^3\) bubbles
Free \(e^-e^+\) creation is packaged as nucleation of two local Compton-scale instances (not one shared bubble): single-wind seats with opposite Hopf class and charge under convention SC1 — electron \((H,Q)=(-1,-e)\), positron \((+1,+e)\). Rest threshold \(\ge 2m_ec^2\). Soft multi-wind light does not become a lone electron by chopping. Process cartoons (dual mint vs short-lived parent then split) share this product; dynamics remain open.

1c.2 Charge quantisation via Hopf class
Each bubble carries topological class \(H\in\mathbb{Z}\) (homotopy-stable). That supplies discrete topological quantisation. Ground free leptons are unit class \(|H|=1\); lab charge \(\pm e\) is packaging at that unit (not a derivation of the coulomb of \(e\) from topology alone). Higher \(|H|\) free elementary bubbles are expected to be energetically suppressed; they are not identified with ordinary composite ions without further structure.

| Is a free seat long-lived (non-radiating fixed point)? | Hold / BN3 / O5 | OPEN — Pathway B residual |
| Do \(e^-+e^+\) disappear when they meet? | Annihilation reverse | Two-seat reconnection channel — not the definition of single-seat hold failure |
Energy packaging for hold (EP★), not a theorem: at Compton-class radius fixed by P4 / M-PHOT (\(a=\bar\lambda_C\) from \(E_1=m_ec^2\)), exterior Coulomb is only \(O(\alpha)m_ec^2\) (\(\alpha/2\) of \(E_1\)); the bulk of rest energy is photon confinement. Classical \(r_e\) is where bare Coulomb alone equals \(mc^2\) — comparison scale, not the CPT hold radius. Soft modes in energy checks mean incomplete functionals, not “no electron.”
Exterior construction (static): a seat may be glued as an \(S^3\) geodesic ball to flat exterior across a thin shell carrying SC1 charge; classical shell self-energy is \(\alpha/(2R_m)\), matching the EP★ exterior scale at Compton \(R_m\). That clarifies hold boundary conditions; it does not close the dynamical fixed point (a_geom_bn3_o5_l1_hold_join_results.md

Odd ILC iterates restore plateau + dual-band zero + mesh stability for \(n_t\ge 28\) (H-D9c); lag maps oscillate even/odd and do not converge (H-D10). Honesty (H-D15–19): packaging dual cancel uses photon-seat null renorm (mean|β|→1, max|β|~2.3 on Hopf) and is driven by the Weber \(r\ddot r\) channel; under field-safe max|β|<1, Darwin / DW proxies do not recover dual-band cancel. Figure 1. Schematic overview

Figure 1. Illustrative three-panel schematic (not a dynamical simulation). Left: Theorem 1 — closed great-circle geodesic on \(S^3(a)\). Centre: Theorems 2 and 4 — Clifford torus locus with a Hopf fibre / \(T(1,1)\) packaging. Right: Theorem 3 — Hopf class of a map \(f\colon S^3\to S^2\). Physical identification of laboratory electrons with these structures remains conditional_model packaging under \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\).
2. Theorem 1 — Geodesic closure
Statement
Theorem 1 (Geodesic closure on round \(S^3\); classical).
Let \(S^3(a)\subset\mathbb{R}^4\) be the three-sphere of radius \(a>0\) equipped with the round Riemannian metric. Then every geodesic of \(S^3(a)\) is a great circle: the intersection of \(S^3(a)\) with a two-dimensional linear subspace of \(\mathbb{R}^4\). In particular, a unit-speed geodesic is periodic with period \(2\pi a\) and is a closed embedded circle.
Proof sketch
Identify \(S^3(a)=\{x\in\mathbb{R}^4:\|x\|=a\}\) with the metric induced from Euclidean \(\mathbb{R}^4\). Geodesics of the round sphere are intersections with 2-planes through the origin: constrained constant-speed motion with acceleration normal to the sphere remains in a fixed central 2-plane. The intersection is a circle of radius \(a\); arc-length period is \(2\pi a\).
References. Standard in Riemannian geometry of space forms; e.g. do Carmo, Riemannian Geometry (Ch. on space forms / hypersurfaces); Lee, Riemannian Manifolds (geodesics on spheres).
Packaging under P1–P2
If a free quantum is packaged as circulating at speed \(c\) along a Riemannian geodesic of \(S^3(a)\) (P1–P2), then confinement in the sense of path closure is geometric. The orbit returns after period \(2\pi a/c\) in laboratory time if the path length is \(2\pi a\) at speed \(c\). There is no force-balance problem to solve in order for the path to close.
Explicit non-claims
Theorem 1 does not prove:
- that laboratory spacetime or the electron self-field is \(S^3(a)\) (P1);
- that a photon is correctly packaged as motion on that geodesic (P2);
- the value of \(a\) or of \(m_e\) (P4).
3. Theorem 2 — Hopf fibres and the \(T(1,1)\) seat
Statement (mathematics)
Theorem 2 (Hopf fibres are great circles; classical).
Let \(S^1\hookrightarrow S^3\to S^2\) be the Hopf fibration. Then the fibres are great circles of the round metric on \(S^3\). They arise as orbits of the free isometric \(S^1\) action
\[
(z_1,z_2)\mapsto (e^{i\theta}z_1,e^{i\theta}z_2)
\quad\text{on }S^3\subset\mathbb{C}^2.
\]
References. Hopf (1931); modern expositions in Bott & Tu, Differential Forms in Algebraic Topology; any standard algebraic topology treatment of \(\pi_3(S^2)\).
Packaging: single-wind seat \(T(1,1)\) [M]
In the CPT torus-knot dialect, closed seats on the Clifford torus in \(S^3\) are labelled by integers \((p,q)\) via
\[
\gamma_{p,q}(t)
=
\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}
\bigl(
\cos(pt),\,\sin(pt),\,\cos(qt),\,\sin(qt)
\bigr)
\in T_{\pi/4}\subset S^3.
\]
The single-wind great circle / Hopf fibre is the class \(T(1,1)\). Under P1–P2, a circulating quantum on a Hopf fibre is therefore packaged as a \(T(1,1)\) path — not because a dynamical energy minimum selected \((p,q)=(1,1)\) among competitors in this note, but because that is the primitive single-wind fibre class.
Selection among \(T(p,q)\) (optional sharpening)
Within the Hopf-torus language alone:
1. Pure family-A / closed BC wind holds iff \(p=q\) (because \(\theta-\phi=(p-q)t\) is constant for all \(t\) iff \(p=q\)).
2. Among pure-A seats, \(T(n,n)\) for \(n>1\) are \(n\)-covers (multi-wind), not primitive single winds.
3. Among coprime \(p,q>0\), \(T(1,1)\) uniquely minimises both \(p+q\) and \(pq\).
Thus \(T(1,2)\) fails pure A; \(T(2,3)\) is the programme’s hadronic \(pq=6\) sector; \(T(n,n)\) covers are multi-wind. Details: g3_tpq_selection_electron_results.md
; catalogue 1069.
Explicit non-claims
Theorem 2 (mathematics) does not prove uniqueness of the electron seat among all embeddings of \(S^1\) in \(S^3\) outside the Hopf-torus dialect. Packaging as “the laboratory electron” remains conditional_model. Absolute mass is not obtained.
4. Theorem 3 — Topological stability of Hopf class
Statement
Theorem 3 (Hopf invariant; classical).
For a smooth map \(f\colon S^3\to S^2\), the Hopf invariant \(H(f)\in\mathbb{Z}\) is a homotopy invariant. Equivalently, \(\pi_3(S^2)\cong\mathbb{Z}\) is generated by the Hopf map, and the integer class is conserved under continuous deformation through continuous (or smooth) maps. In particular, a map of class \(H(f)=1\) is not homotopic to a map of class \(H(f)=0\).
Proof sketch (Whitehead integral)
Let \(\omega\) be the standard area form on \(S^2\) normalised so that \(\int_{S^2}\omega=1\). Then \(f^\omega\) is a closed 2-form on \(S^3\). Since \(H^2_{\mathrm{dR}}(S^3)=0\), there exists a 1-form \(\alpha\) with \(d\alpha=f^\omega\). Define
\[
H(f)=\int_{S^3}\alpha\wedge d\alpha.
\]
Independence of \(\alpha\): if \(d\alpha=d\alpha'\), then \(\alpha-\alpha'=d\beta\) and \(\int_{S^3}d\beta\wedge d\alpha=\int_{S^3}d(\beta\wedge d\alpha)=0\) by Stokes. The integral equals the linking number of preimages of two regular values and is a homotopy invariant.
References. Whitehead (1947); Bott & Tu, Differential Forms in Algebraic Topology; standard algebraic topology texts (Hatcher, Algebraic Topology, discussion of Hopf invariant / \(\pi_3(S^2)\)). CPT catalogue packaging: ID 22.
Packaging under P3 [M]
If the configuration’s topological class is identified with a Hopf class \(H=1\) (P3), then that class is stable against continuous deformation to the trivial class. Stability in this sense is topological, not a statement about the Hessian of a Weber energy.
Explicit non-claims
Theorem 3 does not prove that laboratory electric charge is the Hopf invariant, nor that the electron is \(H=1\), nor energetic stability under a force law. Those steps require P3 packaging and dynamics beyond this note.
5. Theorem 4 — Clifford torus as geometric seat locus
Statement
Theorem 4 (Clifford torus in round \(S^3\); classical).
The Clifford torus
\[
T_{\mathrm{Cl}}
=
\Bigl\{\tfrac{1}{\sqrt{2}}(e^{i\alpha},e^{i\beta}):\alpha,\beta\in\mathbb{R}/2\pi\mathbb{Z}\Bigr\}
\subset S^3\subset\mathbb{C}^2
\]
is a flat minimal surface in round \(S^3\) (vanishing mean curvature) with Willmore energy
\[
W(T_{\mathrm{Cl}})=\int H^2\,dA=2\pi^2.
\]
It is the standard product torus at Hopf height \(\eta=\pi/4\) and the classical distinguished symmetric torus locus in this geometry.
Scope and references (honesty)
- Mean curvature zero / flat metric / \(W=2\pi^2\): classical computations for the Clifford torus in \(S^3\); see e.g. expositions in Pinkall, Hopf tori in \(S^3\), Invent. Math. 81 (1985); standard notes on Willmore surfaces and CMC tori in \(S^3\).
- Broader Willmore conjecture (minimisation among tori in \(\mathbb{R}^3\)): solved by Marques & Neves, Ann. of Math. 179 (2014). That theorem is about \(\mathbb{R}^3\), not the claim used here. We cite it only as ambient intellectual context for Willmore energy, not as the proof of Theorem 4.
- We do not claim a new geometric theorem; we use the Clifford torus as the standard distinguished locus for seat packaging.
Packaging [M]
Under P1–P2, the Clifford torus is a natural symmetric locus on which to place a single-wind Hopf fibre / \(T(1,1)\) seat: obtained without a free shape dial and without invoking Weber force balance to choose \(\eta\).
Explicit non-claims
Theorem 4 does not prove that physical field energy equals Willmore energy, that dynamics places the electron on the Clifford torus, or that \(W=2\pi^2\) determines \(m_e\).
6. Synthesis: structure without knife-edge balance
Under \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\), the following picture is coherent and mathematically controlled:
1. A free quantum packaged along a Riemannian geodesic of \(S^3(a)\) must close (Theorem 1).
2. That geodesic is a Hopf fibre, packaged as \(T(1,1)\) in the torus-knot dialect (Theorem 2).
3. If its topological class is Hopf class \(H=1\), that class is homotopy-stable (Theorem 3).
4. The Clifford torus supplies a canonical symmetric seat locus (Theorem 4).
Slogan (packaging, not ontology proof): on round \(S^3\), closed great-circle orbits and Hopf-class stability are geometric/topological; the symmetric seat is classical surface geometry — not a knife-edge force balance that fails when a soft mode appears in a partial energy functional.
The slogan summarises structure under premises. It is not a claim that the laboratory electron has been derived from first principles, nor that continuum hold is closed.
7. Three honest gaps
Gap 1 — Why \(S^3(a)\)?
Theorems 1–4 assume P1. They do not answer why the local self-field geometry should be round \(S^3\) rather than \(\mathbb{R}^3\) from force-law dynamics alone (Maxwell or Weber).
Upgrade from Gap-1 probe (G1.3-S1/S2). Ambient geometry can be motivated non-circularly by a requirement set \(\mathcal{R}_\star\):
| Axiom | Content |
|-------|---------|
| A⋆1 | Free internal motion is along ambient geodesics |
| A⋆2 | Every direction admits a closed geodesic |
| A⋆3 | Those lengths are direction-independent (single scale \(a\)) |
| A⋆4 | Geometry is a complete space form (constant curvature) |
Lemma [E under \(\mathcal{R}_\star\)]: \(\mathcal{R}_\star\) forces a spherical space form \(S^3(a)/\Gamma\); simply connected ⇒ round \(S^3(a)\). Euclidean \(\mathbb{R}^3\) and hyperbolic \(H^3\) are killed; flat \(T^3\) fails single isotropic period. Hopf packaging is not used in the lemma (using Hopf to force \(S^3\) would be circular).
| Status | Detail |
|--------|--------|
| Inventory | No theorem derives ambient \(S^3\) from flat electrodynamics alone (Maxwell or Weber) |
| Force-law book | CPT prefers causal Weber-class for dynamics; that does not replace \(\mathcal{R}_\star\) as ambient motivation |
| Probe S1–S2 | \(\mathcal{R}_\star\Rightarrow S^3(a)/\Gamma\) banked; axioms are conditional_model, not experimental theorems |
| Present stance | P1 = adopt \(\mathcal{R}_\star\) (geometric free confinement) + simply connected model · freeze v1 |
| Local vs world | P1 is a local core; exterior bulk-slice matching is Appendix D (named zones; junction open) |
| Alternative | Reject A⋆1–A⋆2 and confine by forces in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) (hold / A-dyn under Weber, etc.) |
| Sources | Gap-1 S1–S4 · force-law integrity freeze · O2 formalisation F0–F2 |
Forbidden claims: “Electron lives on \(S^3\)” from Theorems 1–4 alone; from Hopf packaging alone; or “because we use Weber not Maxwell.” Do not equate the local Compton-scale host with a cosmic Mach \(S^3\).
Gap 2 — What sets the radius \(a\) / the absolute mass \(m_e\)? (M-PHOT refined)
Identification banked (P4). Under the confined-photon packaging, rest mass is the fundamental-mode confinement energy on the closed seat:
\[
E_1=\frac{\hbar c}{a}\,,
\qquad
E_1=m_ec^2
\;\Longrightarrow\;
a=\bar\lambda_C\,.
\]
So Gap 2 is not “we have no idea what \(a\) means.” It is refined:
Gap 2 (refined): Self-consistency identifies \(a=\bar\lambda_C\) as the photon-confinement scale and rest mass as \(E_1\). To
derive the absolute value of \(m_e\) (rather than identify it with \(E_1\)), one needs an independent determination of \(a\) in absolute units without invoking the laboratory \(m_e\).
What Gap 2 is not
| False reading | Correction |
|---------------|------------|
| “Mass is unexplained” | Mass origin = photon confinement [E process] (M-PHOT) |

Gap 3 — Interaction law between two loops
Two electrons, under the packaging, are two Hopf fibres (seats of size \(a\)), hosted as disjoint local cores in a bulk 3-slice (multi-instance atlas, Appendix D). At laboratory separations \(R\gg a\) (far zone relative to match radii), under standard multipole packaging they interact at leading static order by Coulomb \(q_1 q_2/(4\pi\varepsilon_0 R^2)\) — mandatory kill criterion (a_geom_gap3_slice1_coulomb_asymptotics_results.md
). Near-field / slow-motion corrections may use causal (retarded) Weber-class packaging pinned to that Coulomb limit — not acausal unretarded signalling (a_geom_gap3_slice2_causal_weber_packaging_results.md
). Lab discriminators are pre-registered (catalogue 1064 / W-LAB class); no large Maxwell deviation is asserted a priori. That law is not the mechanism of single-loop closure in this note. Electrodynamics here is the 3-face book on the atlas — how bulk+instances present in lab 3-space — not the selector of seat geometry (Gap 1).
Forbidden claim: Selling an unfinished continuum soft mode as “the electron does not form a closed loop.”
8. Relation to the hold (force-balance) programme
| Level | Question | Role of this note |
|-------|----------|-------------------|
| Structure (A-geom) | Why a closed Hopf fibre seat? | Answered under \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\) by Theorems 1–4 (math) + P2–P3 (packaging) |
| Dynamics (A-dyn) | What effective law between two seats? What is the single-loop energy? | Open — Gap 3 and quantitative checks |
| Hold packaging (H-D) | How is the single-seat residual posed with frozen exterior + walls? | §1c.3b — packaging banked; continuum theorem OPEN |
Preferred research order (executed on the A-geom path):
1. Structure under explicit premises (this note) — banked.
2. Gap 1 publication freeze: P1 motivated by \(\mathcal{R}_\star\) — banked.
3. Two-loop Coulomb asymptotics + causal Weber-class packaging — banked (G3.1–G3.2).
4. Single-loop energy functionals (FP8-class) as checks only — discipline frozen (G3.3); H-D packaging (§1c.3b) advances the residual without claiming close.
Soft modes and the absence of a \(W_\infty\) theorem are residuals of step 4, not refutations of steps 1–2. Explicit forbidden readings: soft mode does not mean geodesics fail, ambient cannot be \(S^3\), or “no electron” (a_geom_gap3_slice3_energy_as_check_freeze.md
· §1c.3b).
Weber electrodynamics is retained as causal effective two-seat packaging (and lab discriminator language, catalogue 1064) under integrity freeze — not as unretarded signalling, and not as the proof of single-seat closure. Darwin electrodynamics is the Maxwell-side \(O(v^2/c^2)\) comparison book (a_geom_gap3_darwin_weber_comparison.md
).

Appendix D — Local \(S^3\) core, bulk slice, and multi-seat exterior (O2)
Role
Theorems 1–4 live inside a single round \(S^3(a)\) under \(\mathcal{P}_{S^3}\). Laboratory physics is multi-particle and approximately flat. This appendix packages the interface between those layers (Pathway B door O2, formalisation F0–F2). It is not used in the proofs of Theorems 1–4. It does not close free→closed dynamics or derive electrodynamics from bulk first principles.

D.1 Interface package (one paragraph)
Free electromagnetic trains live on a bulk 3-slice \(\Sigma_3\). Each confined elementary seat is hosted by a local round three-sphere \(I_p=S^3(a_p)\) of Compton-class radius, with centre \(c_p\) on \(\Sigma_3\) and a stereographic chart \(\pi_p\) into a neighbourhood of \(c_p\). The free photon is modelled as a Hopf circle translated along a bulk direction; the electron closed wind is a Hopf fibre on \(I_e\). Lab electrodynamics is the 3-face book on the multi-instance atlas — not the selector of seat geometry. Local instances are not the cosmic Mach sphere. Dynamical selection among free-train fates (scatter, collapse, close \(n=1\), corkscrew) remains open.
D.2 Exterior matching (zones)
For each seat \(p\), work in three zones of \(\Sigma_3\) about \(c_p\):
| Zone | Region | Working model |
|------|--------|----------------|
| Core \(\mathcal{C}_p\) | \(r < R_{\mathrm{core},p}\) | Round \(S^3(a_p)\) / IPC free geodesics (Theorems 1–4 apply here) |
| Match shell \(\mathcal{S}_p\) | \(R_{\mathrm{core}}\le r\le R_{\mathrm{match}}\) | Transition — named residual; junction not constructed in this note |
| Exterior \(\mathcal{E}_p\) | \(r > R_{\mathrm{match}}\) | Bulk slice / approximately Euclidean lab geometry; free trains and multipole fields |
Preferred scale packaging: \(a_e\sim\bar\lambda_C\); \(R_{\mathrm{core}}=O(a_e)\). The ratio \(R_{\mathrm{match}}/a_e\) is not derived here. Cosmic radius \(R_{\mathrm{H}}\sim c/H_0\) packages many instances; it is not the electron host.

D.3 Multi-instance atlas (Gap 3 domain)
An \(N\)-seat configuration is an atlas
\[
\mathcal{A}_N=\bigl\{(I_p,a_p,c_p,R_{\mathrm{core},p},R_{\mathrm{match},p})\bigr\}_{p=1}^{N}
\]
with disjoint cores in the working idealisation:
\[
\lvert c_p-c_q\rvert > R_{\mathrm{match},p}+R_{\mathrm{match},q}\quad(p\neq q).
\]
Shared exterior: \(\mathcal{E}(\mathcal{A}_N)=\Sigma_3\setminus\bigcup_p\overline{B(c_p,R_{\mathrm{match},p})}\).
| Regime | Condition | Electrodynamics book |
|--------|-----------|----------------------|
| Far | \(R\gg R_{\mathrm{match},1}+R_{\mathrm{match},2}\) | Coulomb multipole asymptotics (G3.1) |
| Near / slow | cores still disjoint; \(v/c\) corrections | Causal Weber-class packaging (G3.2) |
| Fused cores | overlap | Out of scope (nuclear / multi-knot) |
Category. Maxwell/Weber-class laws are written on \(\mathcal{A}_N\) (3-face manifestation of bulk+instances). They do not select the ambient class of \(I_p\) (Gap 1 / IPC). Full derivation of those laws from bulk medium dynamics remains open and bulk-hard.
D.4 What remains open (not smuggled closed)
| Residual | Status |
|----------|--------|
| Metric/field junction across the match shell | Open |
| Free-train branch selection (close vs scatter vs collapse vs corkscrew) | Open |
| Bulk first-principles derivation of Coulomb/Weber books | Open |
| Continuum single-seat hold fixed point | Open (Gap 3 / O5 / H-D path; §1c.3b packaging only — not a theorem) |
D.5 Explicit non-claims (appendix)
- Not: local host \(=\) cosmic \(S^3\).
- Not: exterior matching theorem or explicit glued metric.
- Not: free photon \(\to\) electron selection theorem.
- Not: electrodynamics proves P1.
- Not: Appendix D required for Theorems 1–4.
