Rule C — All Energy Gravitates

Every form of energy — kinetic, potential, electromagnetic field energy — contributes to the gravitational source term with equal weight. Rule C follows from the EM–gravity double copy.

Statement of Rule C

Rule C is a straightforward but profound principle: All energy gravitates. This means that kinetic energy, potential energy, and electromagnetic field energy all enter the gravitational source term on equal footing.

Effective gravitational mass

Contrast with General Relativity

In General Relativity (GR), the fact that EM field energy gravitates is essentially an axiom. The stress-energy tensor is constructed to include contributions from the electromagnetic field, which is then fed into the Einstein field equations.

Rule C is entirely consistent with this outcome of GR. The difference lies in the foundation: GR postulates it to maintain local energy-momentum conservation, while the CPT framework derives it intrinsically from the double-copy mechanism.

Key Consequences

  • Photons have gravitational mass: As observed experimentally (e.g., light bending around stars), electromagnetic wave packets must interact gravitationally.
  • No QED Vacuum Divergence: Because the framework does not posit fundamental quantum fields (Axiom OA2), there is no infinite zero-point vacuum energy. Thus, Rule C does not lead to an infinite or absurdly massive gravitational vacuum catastrophe (the cosmological constant problem is naturally bypassed).
  • Nuclear Binding Energy: The binding energy of complex nuclear states contributes to their total gravitational mass. This is a critical factor for the stability calculations of the V4 engine.

Mass defect via Rule C

Role in Alpha-Screening

Rule C is the foundational step necessary for the derivation of alpha-screening. By acknowledging that all interaction energies contribute to the effective mass, the intricate screening mechanisms of the fine-structure constant naturally emerge from the localized energy densities.

Established: Rule C is a direct, unavoidable consequence of the EM-gravity double copy. It is completely frozen into the framework.
